Binat Bibi Masjid is at once a working mosque and a guarded piece of South Asia’s Islamic past. Built in the mid-15th century, it pre-dates the Mughal arrival in Bengal and is among the very few sultanate-era structures of Dhaka still in continuous use.
The mosque is overseen by a small but dedicated trust working with conservators, scholars and the surrounding community to ensure that its historic fabric is treated with the same reverence as its spiritual function.
